For our final news update of 2002, we thought we'd hit you off with one more Sunday strip for good measure. Appropriately enough, this one is themed around New Year's Eve and it's right HERE. Thanks to everyone who checked us out this year, have a happy and safe New Year...and be back here on New Year's Day for The State of the Good!
Another Christmas strip has been added just in time for the big day. It's at the top of page 7. Enjoy!
With roughly two weeks left in 2K2, I thought it as good a time as any to give you a quick rundown on what to expect as we close out the year.
First of all, the interview is done. I managed to track Andrew down Saturday night and had a pretty good conversation with the guy regarding the past year and how World of Good has made an impact in the last twelve months. Expect to see the heart of our conversation uploaded on New Year's Day.
Next item-NEW MATERIAL: Although Andrew has been out of the studio due to some marketing obligations (which you'll hopefully see the fruits of sooner than you think), he has still managed to get a strip or three completed. Unless unforeseen circumstances change things, there will definitely be some new jokes before all is said and done in '02. Just keep checking back on that front.
Final item-NEXT YEAR: Right now the target month for our next promotion is March. The working title is "Too much of a GOOD thing." When you see what we have in store, I think you'll have a pretty easy time understanding why we're calling it that. In the meantime, January and February are both looking like fairly productive months with lots of new jokes to keep 'dem smiles on your faces. :-) See you soon!
We promise. We deliver. As expected, we have a new Christmas-themed Sunday strip waiting for you. History has shown Pancakes get the best of virtually everybody he encounters. Does our favorite dog have the necessary juice to take on 'ol St. Nick? Find out right HERE.
People have been asking for new jokes. They've been asking for more 'Sundays'. Well, 'round these parts, we like to kill two birds with one stone. Expect a new Christmas-themed Sunday strip to be uploaded next week. We might throw in a Christmas weekday as well for good measure.
On another note, the redrawn "Whose House" strip (which can be found on page 2) marks the final World of Good installment Andrew wanted to update before his next round of submissions to syndicates. We are once again depending on YOU for some feedback as to which strips are your favorite (and least favorite for that matter) so that we can make this the best submission yet! Don't be shy now, we're depending on you here. :-)
Finally, as promised, I've officially booked Andrew for the year end interview. It'll be in the third week of this month, so you have about a week and a half to get your questions in. See you next week!
Two of the older strips have been redrawn to fit the current look of our cast (Todd in particular). The strips in question are "Todd's Baseball Game" located on page 1 of the weekdays...and "The Chair Shot" located on page 5. For those that have been asking, fret not, for we have new material on the way soon! Have a happy turkey day, everybody.
Besides maintaining his normal workload, Andrew has been gearing up a little early for next year. As time goes by, there's always a desire to revamp things...and hopefully improve them as well. With that in mind, the CHARACTERS section has evolved to a slight extent. Not only have all new text descriptions for Pancakes 'n crew been added to this area, but extra cast bio pics have been included as well. They're at the bottom of the section (and by the 'latest news update' link in the main index).
We won't be stopping there either. I don't want to get too ahead of things here, but I wouldn't be surprised if the interview section also had a little more added to it before all was said and done in '02. I've taken it upon myself to book a little talk time with Andrew in what looks to be the second or third week of December. If you have any questions you wanted asked, now would be as good a time as any to let me know what they are. ;-)
Next week: the usual dose of cool!
Two new strips have been added to page 7. I got one thing to say about today's update, and it's this: Kelly Clarkson, eat your heart out! :-)
Okay, this is a bit confusing...but hey, Andrew always says I'm a bit odd, I might as well prove the guy right every now and then (spiteful, ain't I?). Lots of movement of weekdays occurred over the weekend. The two strips from our 11/5 update are now at the very top of page 3. The strips from our 11/7 update have stayed put. A bunch of other strips were moved all over the place, and we dropped a few as well. We also made room for three hilarious new strips, which are currently at the top of page 7. Confused? No? Well, good, then go check out the new material! :-)
Two more up. Two more down. Just as we did earlier this week, instead of adding new strips to the later pages of the weekdays, we just put them in the exact place of some old ones. Basically, this means you'll find a new strip at the very bottom of page 1 and another at the very bottom of page 4. Enjoy!
They're old. They're tired. It's high time they were replaced! What?..nooo, I'm not talking about Election Day. ;-P
I'm referring to two strips we just axed in favor of two brand new ones. We kinda hid these new entries among some of the older ones...page 2: strips 5 & 6 to be exact. Just go HERE and scroll down to the bottom half of the page. More on the way soon!
Yeah, I know the last update was only three days ago, but we work quick 'round these parts!
Speaking of that last update, remember when I said that whatever went on this week was gonna rock? Well, it turns out I was right...literally. Head on over to the Sunday section where you'll find our very first Halloween-themed strip! It's right HERE. Go!!
Lots more has been added to Page 7. Like, 5 brand spankin new strips to be exact!
NEXT WEEK...well, err...well, I don't know what the hell we're gonna do next week, but I do know this: whatever it is, it's gonna rock! And believe me, I'm never wrong...my mommy tells me so.
Two strips have been added to Page 7.
Next week: umm...well, MORE. :-)
Alright, here's what's going on: The weekday pages have undergone a bit of a shuffle. Andrew wanted to bring the number of strips per page up to seven. We axed two of the older jokes, moved some things around, and our current weekday content is as follows:
Pages 1-5 are up to seven strips per page, but some of the jokes on these pages will soon be replaced with new material...so if you like a specific strip, let us know so we don't drop it.
Page 6 has all of the material that was added to page 7 last week PLUS another brand new joke...the new strip has Todd shopping for a pillow, and it's funny stuff. Check it out RIGHT HERE.
For now, Page 7 is empty, but we will be adding all new installments to this page later this week, so check back soon!
Three more strips have been added on this 3rd of October. They're on Page 7, and they totally rock the casbah.
GUESS WHAT...MORE next week! See you then.
...the strip HAS COME BACK to pancakesgood.com!! Okay, enough Rock references out of me....today's a big day! We're celebrating the beginning of October with the long-awaited return of brand new material. Introducing...*drum roll*.....Page 7 of our weekdays! (geez...soo many exclamation points today...but we're excited here)
Here's the deal: Andrew's been getting lots of e-mails requesting new stuff, so rather than give one huge update for the week, we've divided it into two. That means you get three new jokes today, and at least three more by Friday. Don't forget to let us know what you think of the new work!
Well, we're back from the NY show, and what a show it was! About 5000 industry staff, press, and VIP's packed The Theatre at Madison Square Garden for an opening night loaded with a variety of arts, ranging from independent films to impressionistic paintings to comic strips (duh).
As soon as the night kicked off, people were lining up at the World of Good booth, with many more behind them wondering what the fuss was all about. Five hours later, Andrew had distributed about 200 business cards, and a few hundred more WoG flyers containing full cast descriptions as well as a few sample comic strips.
Overall, Andrew seemed very pleased with the results of the ten-day event and couldn't have been more focused on the task at hand. That said, the conversation I had with him on the way back to the studio made it fairly obvious that he was VERY anxious to get started on some new material for the web site. I got a glimpse of some of the upcoming storyboards, and they look fantastic, and what's more, they're on the way very, very soon. Keep checking back for updates!
Oh, as promised, we made sure to document the opening night festivities. You can view some pics from the first night RIGHT HERE.
Well, Andrew is off to NYC for tomorrow's show at the Garden. He'll have me and the rest of the WoG crew in tow, so I wouldn't expect any updates for the next ten days or so. HOWEVER...once we're back, it will once again be "go time".
Despite spending most of his days out of the studio getting ready for tomorrow, Andrew has made time to get some writing done, so expect some new strips reeeal soon. We'll also hopefully have some pics from the show as well as a full report of what went down. Stay "tooned"!
Judging by a lot of e-mails that we're getting, it's pretty obvious that most people have already noticed...but for those that didn't, just thought I'd let you know that there was a MASSIVE overhaul of the weekday section as it pertains to some of the older strips.
To make a long story short, Andrew was unhappy with the look of some of the earlier installments, so for the past two weeks, he's basically been redrawing them and sneaking them up on to the site. You'll notice that a much larger portion of the weekday section now reflects Andrew's current art style (as opposed to the way he was drawing...say, way back in February).
There are still a couple up there that Andrew plans to update, but it may not happen for a little while as Andrew will be spending most of his days out of the studio prepping for next month's MSG show. Who knows, though, he may yet sneak a few more up.
For those curious, here's a list of all the strips that were redrawn (along with the percentage of the strip that was actually changed):
Page 1:
Strips 2 & 5-100% new art
Page 3:
Strip 1-50%
Strip 6-100%

Let us know what you think!
Well, we promised a HUGE announcement, didn't we?
After a brief review process, World of Good has been invited to be a part of the 2002 NY International Independent Film and Video Festival at New York's Madison Square Garden!!
Pancakes and the rest of the gang will have their very own exhibit booth for the ten-day event, which is set for an opening night of September 18th. Details are still being worked out at the moment, but we hope to have some pics of the display when the event concludes at the end of next month.
This will be World of Good's very first show....ever!...and what a way to kick things off!
Anyone interested in finding out more about the event can pay a visit to www.nyfilmvideo.com.
A few minor cosmetic modifications were made to the site, nothing too noticeable. We axed two weekday strips, but replaced them with two brand new ones. You'll find them on Page 6.
Don't forget...Friday: HUGE announcement. Be here.
Andrew has been hard at work promoting World of Good every which way he can, and it looks like his efforts to get the strip noticed are finally paying off.
Be on the lookout next week for a HUGE announcement as to where you'll find Pancakes and the rest of the gang making their presence known.
Need a hint? Here's three:
Hint #1-The fourth President elected to lead our great nation
Hint #2-Has four sides of equal length
Hint #3-A place to plant your flowers
Yeah, I know, the hints are kind of lame, but, like, they're all I can think of!
It's August. It's hot. It's Sunday. No wait, it's Friday. My mistake, I was fooled by the BRAND NEW FULL COLOR SUNDAY we just put up.
Well, what are you doing still reading the news?? The Sunday Strips are waiting for you! GO!!
We've got another Sunday up. It's...*drum roll*.....Spike vs. The Incredibly Neat Freak Supermarket People!! Go to the Sunday Strips section, you'll see what I'm talking about.
Oh, and be back here on Friday when we answer the age-old question....WILL Todd lose his lunch???
Andrew just wanted to throw out a big, fat 'thanks' to everyone that offered their feedback over the past week. Of the many views expressed, the one that seemed to be the most prominent was the overwhelming interest and enthusiasm in the Sunday strips. Most people were quick to ask for some more. You want it? YOU GOT IT.
Early next week, we'll update with some brand new Sundays!! In the meantime, keep sending in that feedback, especially as it pertains to the weekday strips...every opinion counts. See ya next week!
At this point, I honestly don't know what's driving Andrew, but he keeps pounding out material earlier than expected and delivering to me for upload. We have yet another Sunday up in...you guessed it...the Sunday Strips Section.
You may not be aware, but this fourth Sunday strip was actually the last installment Andrew was planning on completing before engaging in his next round of submissions to syndicates. Why am I mentioning this?? Because Andrew now needs YOUR help. Please send us some feedback in regard to any strips you particularly like, or even those that you don't like. Andrew will take all of your opinions into consideration before he decides which specific strips he will be including in his submissions. This is your opportunity to help make World of Good an even better comic. Please let us know how you feel.
Two brand-spankin new strips have been posted on page 6 of the weekdays. These are the silent strips I had mentioned in yesterday's update. When I got that first glimpse of them, they were only in the 'pencil' stages. Looking at the completed inked versions, I have to say that Andrew put these together quite nicely. Take a look and let me know if you agree.
Well, we hit a little snag on Monday night when the site suffered a minor case of death. To make a long story short, the web host provider Andrew had been using didn't hold up on their end, and everyone else ended up paying for it. MAJOR PROPS to Andrew for keeping it together and maintaining his regular work load while getting the site to a new provider in such a short period of time.
As a result of keeping up with things, we will be able to update tomorrow with brand new weekday strips. I paid Andrew a visit at the studio and got a glimpse of some experimention with silent strips (that's strips with no dialogue for all y'all ignant folk). Really interesting stuff. Be back here tomorrow for two examples of what I'm talking about.
As promised, we've added an all new page of jokes. We started the page with only three new strips at the moment, but they've got as much funny as any normal six. You'll see Spike in formal duds, Corey talk with his mouth full, and Pancakes' view on an all too overused expression. See for yourself!
Well, Andrew wanted to hold off on updating until next week but I convinced the guy that two sunday strips are just NOT enough to tide people over. He didn't budge. So I just promised the guy Summerslam tickets (I can't believe he actually bought it) and he happily threw me another sunday strip. It's up right now and it's HILARIOUS. How hilarious? See for yourself right HERE!
Oh, on another note, I heard a rumor that there will be more weekday strips come Monday. Gives us a visit next week and see if I'm right.
The very first WORLD OF GOOD interview is up!! Take a peek into the creative mind of WoG writer/artist Andrew Kaplan with this exclusive INTERVIEW!
Pancakes Good, the world's most surly bulldog, has gone global...literally. Today marks the opening of the official website of the WORLD OF GOOD comic strip. We've got a lot of features for you to check out, so feel free to take a good look around. We hope you enjoy your visit. Come back soon as we have many extras planned for this site, including the very first WORLD OF GOOD interview!
